"Nobody gives this to you.
This is Earned."
On a family trip to Oregon and Washington state in the summer of 2006 the possibility of me becoming a writer took shape. Having grown up as part of "The Harry Potter Generation," I watched how all kinds of people from different backgrounds found themselves in those books. I fondly remember attending midnight releases for the books or films where perfect strangers would strike up conversations like they had known each other for years. All of this made possible over the love of a shared story.

I may have started writing back then. It wasn't until college where Tiger Run was born.

I attended Appalachian State University for my Bachelor's Degree in English: Creative Writing. My experience there and the semester abroad I took at Kingston University, London cemented the foundation I needed to pursue writing and publication. In addition, my higher education experiences rewarded my interests in learning about world history and my family history - how the past informs the future and the stories I seek to create.

Tiger Run by no means is my first fully developed novel. Nor is it the first one I attempted to publish. The process of getting this book to print has been filled with doubt, pride, and sacrifice. Trying to put out the best work I could while working as a personal trainer to earn a living meant forgoing other parts of my life: time with family and friends. Just like with body-building (ask me about that), nobody gives you a prize-winning physique . . . or a completed novel. It's earned.

It's my hope readers will take away from Tiger Run the appreciation of working to earn your stripes and find part of themselves in Arthur's journey to helping his father's ghost find peace.

Cheers to Worlds of Possibility
